10 Jul 2012 – Millngate continue their 100% track record in obtaining planning consents.

On the 9th July 2012 Breckland District Council resolved to grant detailed planning permission for a new environmentally friendly supermarket to be occupied by Tesco. There was a substantial majority vote in favour following a presentation by Louise Gosling of Tesco; Tony Sweeney of Millngate and the Town Clerk of Swaffham Town Council. Nobody spoke against the proposal at the committee hearing which re-inforced the strength of local support for the much needed supermarket.

The positive effects of the prospect of Tesco coming to Swaffham can already be seen. A new retailer has occupied a long vacant retail unit close to the proposed new store as shown in the photograph below.
